THE FITTING ROOM - SIZING YOUR DOG

It's frustrating to anticipate buying something darling for your dog only to find it doesn't fit well when you put it on!  At Designer Duds for Dogs, we offer the following tips and tricks to ensure a proper fit so you can avoid that frustration!

Designer Dog Collars and TiesIMPORTANT NOTE FOR OUR PATENTED DESIGNER COLLARS AND TIES!

These are meant to fit snugly so please measure your dog's neck well...measure in the CENTER of the neck, NOT at the base!!!  You do NOT want the normal "two finger" loose fit for these collars but instead less than one finger or the collar will hang too loosely.  When in doubt on size, go smaller!  This is completely contrary to most fittings for dog collars but your dog will be completely comfortable with the snug fit!

PLEASE measure your dog's neck around the middle of the neck with the tape SNUG. This is the best measurement to assure a good fit of the Calvin K-nine shirt collars. If your dog has very short fur and measures at the smallest size fo the scale, you might want to choose one size down in collar size. If your dog has lots of fur and measures at the very top of the size scale, you might want to go up a size. A proper measurement will help with the best fit - so you won't have to exchange the shirt collar.

Breed that typically wear this size shirt collar:
XXXS - Small Chihuahuas and Yorkies (not Teacups - sorry!)
XXS - Maltese, Larger Chihuahuas, Fox Terriers, Bichons, etc.
XS - Schnauzers, Wire-hair Terriers, bigger Jack Russels, Cockers, etc.
S - Pugs, French Bulldogs, Geryhounds, some Standard Poodles, etc.
M - Golden Retrievers, Smaller Labs, etc.
L - Larger Labs, Englichs Bulldogs, Great Danes, etc.
XL - Some Bull Mastiffs, some Newfies, smaller larger dogs, etc.
XXL - Mastiffs, Newfies, St. Bernards, etc.
XXXL - Largest Newfies, St. Bernards, etc.

Neckties - measure from the middle of the dog's neck down the front of the chest to decide the length of the necktie.

Bowties -Usually the XS looks proportional with the XXXS and XXS shirt collars.
Usually the S looks proportional with the XS and S shirt collars.
Usually the M looks proportional with the M and L shirt collars.
Usually the L looks proportional with the L and XL shirt collars.
Usually the XL looks proportional with the XXL and XXXL shirt collars.

**Note: A necktie slips on the shirt collar and adds up to two inches to the collar size. The elastic on the back of the bowties slips on the tab, but doesn't add the extra inches to the size of the collar. So if you choose a necktie, remember you are increasing the overall size of the shirt collar.

Please note:   The bowties offer EITHER a black elastic loop or a white elastic loop on the back to attach  to the shirt collar.  Click on thumbnails below for larger view.

Choose either black or white elastic loop in the shopping cart.  If ordering for the first time (or if ordering additional bowties after a previous purchase of a collar) please be sure to indicate which elastic loop color you prefer.

How to measure your dog (measure areas depending on what you're ordering)

Let your dog stand straight.

For Neck:  Measure around the neck at the widest part above the shoulders
